About GJI

Founded in 2007 by Julia Alanen, David B. Jackson and Melissa A. Kucinski, Global Justice Initiative, Inc. (GJI) is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting plenary access to justice, the protection and empowerment of underserved, disadvantaged and marginalized populations, and equal enjoyment of rights through education, cross-cultural collaboration, pluralistic dialogue, volunteerism, public service and social change.

ACCESS Initiative

GJI’s principal program of work, ACCESS, is an initiative to develop and promote the use of family mediation to resolve international parental kidnapping and cross-border child custody disputes, and ensure that children have access to both parents. ACCESS mediators cultivate a safe, neutral environment for parents to forge mutually-acceptable solutions and a cooperative co-parenting regime.
